Our Wines on VE Day in Meltham
Meltham has a strong tradition of celebrating VE day on the May Day holiday with lots of local community activities and a scarecrow competition. Many locals dress up for the period and ww2 vehicles manned by uniformed volunteers set the atmosphere, loudly interrupted by a Spitfire fly past. An annual feature is the street party held by residents of Tinker Lane. Guest of honour this year was 101 year old Richard Steyan. Wine from Helme Edge Vineyard was provided by Meltham Council. The event featured on the local one o’ clock BBC news.
